Refund policy
Last updated: 5 May 2026
This is the default refund schedule for Egen Games entries. Organizers may publish a different policy for a specific event; the event-level policy controls. The default below is what applies when an event doesn't override it.
1. Default policy: full refund up to 7 days before
If you cancel a registration at least 7 days before the event start date, you get a full refund of the entry fee. The Paystack processing fee may be deducted if Paystack does not return it to us; we will surface the deducted amount when you request the refund.
2. 50% refund inside 7 days, before event start
Cancellations made within the 7-day window before the event start receive a 50% refund. Brackets, draws, and venue logistics have usually been finalized by this point, which is why the platform default lands here.
Some organizers publish a more generous policy for their events. The event page shows the policy that applies.
3. No refund for no-show
If you don't cancel before the event start and don't show up, your entry fee is not refunded. The organizer has already paid the venue, judges, and prize allocations against your confirmed slot.
4. Organizer-discretion refunds for force majeure
When an event is cancelled or postponed for reasons outside everyone's control (severe weather, public-safety order, venue failure, security incident), the organizer chooses between:
- A full refund within 14 working days
- Transfer of the entry to the rescheduled date with the athlete's consent
- A credit for a future event run by the same organizer
We don't take a fee on force-majeure refunds.
5. Refund process
- Organizers initiate refunds from the event dashboard. The registration moves to a "refunded" state.
- Paystack returns the funds to the original payment method. For Nigerian cards this is typically 3 to 7 working days; for international cards it can take up to 14 working days.
- Athletes can self-request a refund from their registration page. The request reaches the organizer's dashboard for approval.
6. Disputes
If you and the organizer disagree on whether a refund applies, contact [email protected] with the registration reference. We will look at the event policy, the published timing, and any evidence either side shares. Decisions are made in good faith and on the published rules; we don't override clearly stated event policies.
For Paystack chargebacks, follow Paystack's dispute process first. We cooperate fully with Paystack's investigation.
7. Contact
Refund questions: [email protected] or use our contact page. Include the registration reference and your registered phone number.
This policy is a working draft. Final legal review pending.
